Baselworld 2010

002-s
Baselworld, the all-things-Swiss-watches-show, is set to open its doors to thousands of watch aficionados from March 18 to March 25.

Some 2000 companies from the wristwatch and related sectors will be presenting their new products and innovations. And although that's more than 100 less than the glory days of 2007 and 2008, it's still plenty enough to satisfy pretty much any watch lover.

Industry insiders are hoping that the big event can help the industry recover from the challenges of 2009.

Baselworld is free and open to the public and those lucky enough to attend will see first hand the latest product launches from the likes of Rolex, Omega, Hublot, Breitling, Zenith, Patek Phillipe, and many others.

Overall, Antiquorum's auction featured 331 lots. Of these, 80 percent were sold, netting a total of $5.9 million.

Patek Philippe Museum Passes Historic Milestone

Building The Patek Philippe Museum is well worth a trip, should you ever find yourself at horological ground zero (aka Geneva).  The museum, which showcases more than five centuries of fine European watchmaking, recently saw its 100,000th visitor pass through its doors. Open since November 2001, special exhibits chart the rise of Patek Philippe from a humble two-man shop in 1839 to the world's premier watchmaker today.
