New Prez Prefers TAG Heuer
President Barack Obama has a hankering for TAG Heuer watches. The mainstay for the 44th president is a TAG Heuer Series 1500 Two-Tone Diver watch with a leather strap. This elegant but functionally under-stated timepiece was first launched by the brand in the early 1990s. Obama's watch is believed to have been purchased for around $575 in 1992 or 1993.

That's a great picture. Cool watch. I wonder if TAG will try and release an Obama version of the watch or something like that to celebrate his historic victory.

I thought he was wearing something else. I've seen him wear a big honking watch before. I'm pretty sure.

Bobby, yes Obama does where a large chronograph from time to time. It was given to him by the Secret Service last summer, I believe. Apparently it is private label watch available only in the Secret Service employees' store. It's made in China and powered by a Japanese movement.

President Obama has worn the Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph on many historic occasions since August 2007 and most recently as President of The United States, with sightings including Election Night, the Inaugural Ball and Inauguration Day.

jpasparungao - You are absolutely correct. The Jorg Gray 6500 Chronograph has rarely been off Obama's wrist since 2007, when he received it as a birthday present from the Secret Service. It has a Japanese movement. A version of it sells direct from Jorg Gray for around $350.
